The wheels are a crucial part of your cycling experience, and the right choice can make a big difference for both speed and control. Do you ride mostly on flat terrain, hilly landscapes, or something else entirely? Your riding needs are the key to finding the wheelset that suits you best. Here you can learn more about the different types of wheels so you can make the best choice.

Road bike wheelsets

When it comes to road bikes, speed, control, and comfort are paramount. Our DKBIKE wheelsets are built to be light, stiff, and aerodynamic. Less weight and more stiffness give you more efficient and faster rides - whether for training or racing. The choice typically stands between aerodynamics and weight optimization, depending on whether you mainly ride on flat terrain or in hilly surroundings. We have wheelsets that each offer their own advantages - and, not least, wheelsets that offer it all - including our DKBIKE Feather wheelset - a mountain wheelset or competition wheelset that is suitable for everything; i.e., low weight, ultra-stiff wheels, and, not least, aerodynamic. Reducing the weight of the wheels makes a significant difference, especially because they are in constant motion. It can be felt in both acceleration and climbing on the big hills and mountains - whether it's for the Grejsdalsløbet in the Vejle hills or when you are riding Gran Fondo, La Marmotte, Stelvio, Alpe D'Huez, or something completely different. Here, our DKBIKE Feather or our DKBIKE Wave are excellent choices.

High profile or low profile

The profile (the height of the wheel) has a major influence on aerodynamics and, not least, on wind sensitivity. High profiles provide better aerodynamics but weigh more and affect stability in crosswinds. Therefore, they are ideal for flat terrain, where aerodynamics are more important than weight. Low profiles are lighter and therefore more suitable for hills and mountains, where weight plays a greater role. With this wheelset, you achieve good aerodynamics without being overly sensitive to the wind (primarily crosswinds/gusts), a great aesthetic look for your bike, and a 25mm outer width that allows you to use tires between 23-28mm in width (the most common width for road cycling). Not least, you get DKBIKE hubs with ceramic bearings that simply roll absolutely fantastically. Here you get a fantastic price/value ratio. In the industry, these carbon fibers are known as the superior best and strongest, which is why we only use these.

Our own DKBIKE hubs are also of the highest quality. Hubs are essential for low rolling resistance and stability, which is why we have selected our 2 best hubs for you to choose from: Hubs with standard bearings and hubs with ceramic bearings. Both hubs are of the highest quality and roll fantastically. The hub with ceramic bearings has the same durability as the hub with standard bearings. The big difference is found in the rolling resistance, which is lower in the hub with ceramic bearings. With a price of DKK 6,995 for a carbon wheelset with ceramic bearings, it is our clear recommendation - it is simply market-leading. Disc wheels provide less wind resistance than traditional spoked wheels. Even though disc wheels are slightly heavier than traditional spoked wheels, this is offset by the reduced wind resistance. You can supplement your disc wheel with a more specialized and aerodynamic front wheel, which can optimize your performance in the race against the clock. This helps keep the weight down and the stiffness at the top. However, a disc wheel will always be slightly heavier. We have both very competitively priced disc wheels, as well as super lightweight disc wheels that offer ultra-low weight of approx. 970 grams and extremely high performance. With that wheel set, you achieve good aerodynamics without being overly sensitive to wind (primarily side wind/headwind), nice aesthetic expression on your bike, 25mm outer width which means you can ride with tires between 23-28mm wide (most common width for country roads ) and not least DKBIKE hub with ceramic bearings that quite simply roll absolutely and absolutely fantastic. The hubs are crucial for low rolling resistance and stability, which has also meant that we have selected our 2 best hubs that you can choose from: Hub with standard bearings and hub with ceramic bearings. Both hubs are top quality and roll great. The hub with ceramic bearings has the same durability as the hub with standard bearings. You will find the big difference in the rolling resistance, which is lower in the hub with ceramic bearings. With a price of Kr.
